General
There is currently a lot of uncertainty about continuing assignments within the security world(among others) on the basis of independent entrepreneurship.Many Dutch companies have indicated that they will nolonger do this as of the 1ste of January 2025. The government sets certain requirements for working as a self-employed person, who must, among other things, be registered as a sole proprietorship within the Chamber of Commerce.
A self-employed person is not part of the workforce and cannot claim any rights that are included in a collective labor agreement. As a contractor, he is of course part of the team, but caution in his dealings and confidence in his professional competence are paramount (common law).
The self-employed person decides on his own layout and planning within the space available for this purpose. He also has several clients for whom he provides services, which can consist of multiple business activities. A sole proprietorship is not obliged to employ its own staff, but in practice it often works together with other fellow self-employed persons.
Why did I become self-employed?
I saw a concept and idea to market myself differently than where many general security companies stop exploring. In addition, to focus more broadly on issues that are present within society (this for both private individuals and other entrepreneurs). My age, qualifications and work history also played a major role. This also created the need for certain investigations.

Liability insurance
the Business and professional liability insurance is through Hiscox S.A. Based in Amsterdam. This applies to both security and investigative work, but excludes work within the healthcare sector because of certain risks.
Legal insurance
The legal expenses insurance is arranged through an intermediary at DAS located in Amsterdam. Wen needed, this also arranges the collection matters for the company.
Disability insurance
As an entrepreneur, I am insured against disability. This scheme is implemented through zelfstandig ondernemers who have a facility based on crowdsurance. I also have accident insurance through OHRA.
Pension participation
Old age is certainly important and that is why the right arrangements have been made to provide for this.
Safety regulations
In order to provide own clothing (including proper footwear) and other company resources required to carry out the work, an entrepreneur must have his own working conditions regulations. That is why it is also owned.
Privacy code of conduct
Handling data and information is very important. There is a privacy code of conduct for both private research work and general business operations.
Entrepreneur for Sales Tax (administration obligation)
Every year, the tax authorities check whether the entrepreneur must calculate VAT on the invoices. Obligation to maintain accounting, time registration (this is done with Keeping) and, for example, a kilometer registration has also been made mandatory. You can apply to the tax authorities for a check on soundness by means of a Statement of Payment Behaviour for Compliance with Tax Obligations.
Financial details
Banks we do business with are the digital bank Openbank S.A. (registered with the tax authorities) and the WISE Foreign Exchange Company, where we have a Business account. Our VAT-number and bank account details are only provided in cases of business interest.
Charities
I support Trees for Life via Mastercard® and support the Ouwehands Zoo Foundation. Environmental matters and human rights also have a place within the company.
